Description
Technology is often adopted because it is 'neat' or 'cool'. However, this approach is called technological determinism - where decisions are driven by the tech, not the educational value or curriculum design to benefit students. The resources in this module will introduce you to:
- Does technology make a difference? (see video "Will tech revolutionize education?")
- Considerations for adopting technology in education (video from Australian national higher ed service; features higher ed faculty)
- A model to assess what purpose(s) the tech serves in the Educational context (see video from Dr. Puentedura, who developed the SAMR model OR download his summary presentation in "SAMR Model - a visual")
- Articles that address some of the core issues with adopting technology
